You have already made the decision to quit smoking. You are surrounded by warnings about the hazards of cigarette smoking. You have seen adds on TV, you have read articles in magazines and on line, and you have been counseled (aka nagged) by friends and family members. So now is the time to take the giant leap necessary to become a non-smoker.
The most critical component of a quit smoking program is the decision you make, the pledge to become a non-smoker. I can not over emphasize that it has to be your decision, and that you have to commit to it. Once the commitment is made, you can employ an acupuncturist to help you keep your promise.
Acupuncture is a tool for you to use in the quit smoking process. Acupuncture will support your body and your mind as you undergo the detox and change habits.
My quit smoking program is individualized to your needs:
Initial evaluation visit. Complete health history and evaluation with an acupuncture treatment designed for your current health condition. At that time we will also custom design your stop smoking program
- Series of ear acupuncture treatments. Usually 3 – 5 visits per week for ear acupuncture. Very small and fine needles are placed into specific points in the ear to detoxify the body and ease stress and anxiety. At the last visit of the week, I will place small gold acupuncture beads onto the ear points. You can stimulate these points over the weekend, kind of like acupuncture to go.
- Chinese Herbal Medicine Prescription. Some patients may benefit with the addition of an herbal formula.
- Qi Gong Breathing. I often recommend and teach a simple qi gong breathing technique to help ease you through cravings.
- Repeat ear acupuncture visits as needed.
- Follow up with full acupuncture treatments as needed.
Call me and we can talk about your plan to quit smoking and how acupuncture will work for you.
